Bills and automatic generation
Generate monthly rent bills yourself, or let rentJz create them automatically before each due date.
A bill is what you charge a tenant for a month — one per tenant per period, each with its own invoice number. You can create bills yourself whenever you like, or turn on automatic generation so they're created a few days before each tenant's due date.
Steps
- To create bills yourself on desktop, open Collections, pick the month with the date picker, then select Generate bills.
- On your phone, open Dues (bottom tab) and select Generate bills — this creates bills for the month currently shown.
- To turn on automatic generation, open Settings (phone: More → PG profile & settings), turn on Auto-generate bills, and set Days before due date.
- Select Save changes.
Good to know
- Generating bills never creates a duplicate — a tenant who already has a bill for a period is skipped.
- Days before due date defaults to 5; automatic generation creates a tenant's bill once today is within that many days of their due date (in Indian time).
- Automatic generation never creates a bill for a month before a tenant's Start date.
- If you void a bill for a month, that month isn't recreated automatically — void it and it stays void.
- New organisations start with automatic generation on; if your organisation existed before this feature, it starts off until you turn it on in Settings.
